Study on Negative Cutting Force Phenomenon of PCD Cutting Tools in Cutting Hard and Brittle Materials

Abstract In this paper, gabbro is taken as an example. Polycrystalline diamond (PCD) tool is used to test the hard and brittle material. The cutting force signal is analyzed in the time domain and frequency domain. The cutting force of hard and brittle material is proposed. It can be divided into two parts: the cutting force trend amount and the cutting force random amount: the structural characteristics of the hard and brittle material and the vibration of the cutting tool are the main reasons for the negative value of the cutting force of the hard and brittle material.
